Sharon Freese provides leadership in the areas of University Health Behavioral Health clinical services, where she harnesses the unique strengths of the organization of 400+ people to enhance quality care delivery, staff competence, financial viability, patient satisfaction, and patient safety across hospital- and community-based services.
Sharon brings over 30 years of excellence in nursing, mental health, and healthcare leadership. For the past three decades, she has held various roles at University Health Behavioral Health, including Clinical Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing, Associate Administrator of Inpatient Services, and Associate Administrator for Behavioral Health Quality, Patient Safety, and Risk Management. As the Chief Operating Officer of Behavioral Health, Sharon leverages her unique strengths-based approach to guide the organization towards positive change and to enhance its sustainability through adaptability and agility.
Sharon is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator, and Strengthscope®️ StrengthscopeMaster™️. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and went on to earn her Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
